He has been trusted by some of the world’s most important musicians, artists, designers, companies, organizations, etc. His documentation of Riot Grrrl and the band Bikini Kill has become one of the most recognizable shots of women in Punk music. Pat brings his knowledge of photography, people , and different situations to his work. The results and style are breathtaking. Be it photographing thousands of fans for one of England’s top football clubs Tottenham, or working with brand innovators Wolff Olins to photograph the V&A for their annual report.
Pat has worked with all types of people in all types of situations. He is easy to work with and has very non-confrontational assertive approach. This attitude makes him sought after by subjects and clients.
Graham began shooting in high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but soon relocated to Washington DC where he worked extensively in and around the local & national music industry for over 10 years. During this period he toured endlessly with bands such as Modest Mouse, the Make Up, Tortoise and June of 44, across the USA and Europe. In 2007 Modest Mouse hired Pat once again This time to create a photoblog for the band. He toured around the world with them as a photographer from 2007 – 2009. Thousands of fans of the band and photography would visit the blog daily to see the latest images. This exsposure has given him fans from all over the world.
His photos have been published in magazines including Rolling Stone, Spin Magazine, Art Forum, NME, Dazed & Confused, Raygun, the Village Voice, the Washington Post, Washington City Paper, the Guardian, Punk Life, Punk Planet, Copper Press, Time Out, VICE, Tokion, Swindle, Guitar World, Index, AnP, the Chicago Reader, etc, etc. His first book of photographs (Silent Pictures) was released in 2007 by Akashic books, NYC. Chronicle books will be releasing his next book Instrument in spring 2011. Instrument is a visual study of the instruments that help create some of musics best songs with captions and stories from the musicians. The forward is by Johnny Marr.

In 2001 he took the artist in residence position at the Grange Hall, in Wakefield Rhode Island. After which he moved his base to London, England.Graham co-founded contemporary art gallery ‘96 Gillespie’ a not for profit gallery dedicated to encouraging and supporting a dialogue between US and UK artists & to being a significant venue for American artists in the UK. He works & exhibits internationally, frequently in collaboration with his wife, photographer and designer Melanie Standage.
Pat’s photos can be found in the Experience Music Project Museum, Seattle WA, the Arlington Municipal Art Collection, Arlington VA, and in private collections around the world.
Pat currently divides his time between London and the USA. He is available for commissions In these or any locations life brings him.
